Bond out of Pakistan series
Tuesday, December 1, 2009
Shane Bond's Test comeback has lasted just one match after New Zealand's premier pace bowler was ruled out of the remainder of the current series against Pakistan because of an abdominal tear.
Bond reported discomfort in the aftermath of his man-of-the-match performance during the Black Caps' 32-run victory in the first Test at Dunedin last week.
He had scans this morning that confirmed a tear, a recurrence of the injury that affected him when he last played in the Test arena in 2007.
Bond, who spent some time in the international wilderness because of a brief playing spell in rebel Indian Cricket League, took match figures of 8 for 153 in Dunedin.
The 34-year-old will miss the second Test starting in Wellington on Thursday and the final match at Napier beginning December 11.
