First test match between India and Srilanka turned out to be match of records where lot of records were made which are as follows :
1) Highest number of centuries in subcontinent. Rahul dravid , M S Dhoni , Dilshan , Mahela Jayawardene , P Jayawardene , Gautam Ghambir and Sachin tendulkar making centuries. Total 7 centuries. WestIndies V/s Southafrica test match in 2007 had eight centuries which is highest till date.
2) Unstoppable Sachin tendulkar completed 30,000 Runs in international cricket. He is first batsman to cross this landmark.
3) Rahul dravid completed 11,000 runs in test cricket. He is fifth player to do so .
4) Mahela jayawardne hit his 6th double ton . He joined sangakara and attapattu who also have 6 double tons to their names.
5) Mahela Jayawardene has created history by becoming the only player to share world records for three different stands - 624 for the third wicket with Kumar Sangakkara against South Africa at Colombo SSC in 2006; 437 for the fourth wicket with Thilan Samaraweera against Pakistan at Karachi in 2009 and 351 for the sixth wicket with Prasanna Jayawardene against India at Ahmedabad in November 2009.
6) Srilanka has become first visiting team to surpass 700 runs on Indian soil.
