Ijaz predicts Indo-Pak series at neutral venues soon

Friday, November 6, 2009

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ijaz Butt on Wednesday expressed optimism for a series against arch-rivals India at a neutral venue in 2010, asserting the International Cricket Council (ICC) has shown interest in resumption of the high-profile contests in the US, Geo news reported on Wednesday.

“Insha Allah a series between Pakistan and India will be held at a neutral venue next year as my meetings with the Indian cricket officials as well as government officials will bring good results,’ Ijaz said while talking to reporters after reaching Lahore from New Delhi following an eight-day visit to India.

“The United States is a good place [for the series]. But since there is just one stadium in Florida where only one One-day International or two Twenty20 matches could be held, it is not suitable for a high-profile series,” he stated.

Ijaz further said that the International Cricket Council (ICC) was also interested in resumption of the competitions between Pakistan and India in the US to promote the game in that region.

The PCB chief asserted that during his visit he also asked the BCCI to invite Pakistani players for the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

India-Pak Cricket Matches Soon?

Wednesday, October 28, 2009

Pakistan’s cricket chief Ijaz Butt is visiting India Wednesday to hold talks with his counterparts, apparently to revive bilateral ties snapped a year ago following the Mumbai terror attacks.

‘I am going to India, but at this point of time I am not going to make any comment and once things mature only then will I be able to speak,’ said Butt, whose tour is widely reported as an attempt to revive ties.

Butt last month said that the new FTP had Tests, one-dayers and Twenty20 matches with India.

‘Not only Pakistan and India, but the ICC is also making efforts to revive bilateral ties between the two countries as it is imperative that we play against each other in the FTP and we will discuss the option of neutral venues,’ Butt said.

PCB chief operating officer Wasim Bari also reportedly hinted India was willing to talk on playing Pakistan at neutral venues.

Your Say On Malik's Comments

Sunday, September 27, 2009

Man-of-the-match Malik, who shared a match-winning record 206-run fourth wicket stand with Mohammad Yousuf (87), said Dhoni missed a trick by bringing on the off-spinner late in the attack, especially after Pakistan were tottering at 65 for three at one stage.

"I think he (Dhoni) should have brought on Harbhajan early. We were three down and another wicket would have hurt us," said Malik about Dhoni's ploy of introducing the off-spinner in the 25th over.

That brings our question of the day?. Do you believe that harbhajan should have bowled atleast 2-3 over during second power play?.

Please post your comments.
